With his Meliès-inspired design for the 64th New York Film Festival poster, Winnipeg-born multimedia artist Marcel Dzama joins an extraordinary array of creators who have contributed their work to the festival since its inception. Across a career spanning nearly three decades, Dzama—an avid cinephile—has developed a distinctive visual language that explores human behavior, imagination, and the shifting boundary between reality and the subconscious, drawing on folk traditions, art history, and contemporary culture to conjure worlds of childhood fantasy, myth, and surreal narrative. To celebrate his extraordinary design, we’re proud to welcome Dzama to the festival for a lively conversation about his personal relationship with film, the synergies and resonances between art forms, and the cinematic touchstones that have informed his creative sensibility.

All ticket holders will receive a complimentary 6×10 version of Dzama’s 64th New York Film Festival poster.
