Screenings
This all-archival tour de force takes us behind the scenes of Derek Jarman’s Edward II, set against the backdrop of the anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation of 1980s Britain. In 1991, Jarman started production on Edward II, just as queer life in the UK was under renewed threat from the British government. Seamus McGarvey captured all the drama on set in a previously unseen treasure trove of behind-the-scenes footage. Queer Edward II masterfully reanimates this archive as a vigorous and radical reflection on the power of art as protest.
